Anna Stegmann is praised as “fervid musician” who performs on “the highest musical and technical level” (Susanne Schulte, GWK Münster, 2007). She “loves the stage and her instrument and feels the music until the tip of her toes” (Stadsnieuws Tilburg 2011). She is a passionate performer of early and contemporary recorder music and is an active member in Ensembles such as Ensemble Odyssee and The Royal Wind Music, with which she extensively tours Europe and North America. With these Ensembles and as a soloist she has recorded Cds with Pan Classics, Glossa, Lindoro and Mieroprint.
Anna regularly appears in venues and festivals across Europe. Next to her activities as performer on stage, she is invited to give workshops and Masterclasses and joined jury's of competitions. In September 2014 she joined the staff of the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she teaches a recorder class alongside British recorder player Pamela Thorby.
Anna took prizes in competitions such as the International Van Wassenaer Concours, 11th Competition for Contemporary Chamber Music in Cracow, the Montreal Recorder Competition, the LINKPRIJS and the GWK- Young Artist Award. In 2014 she has been a finalist of the prestigeous Victor Elmaleh Competition of the Concert Artist Guild in New York, USA. Furthermore she was granted a scholarships by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben in 2008 and 2009 to support her studies in Amsterdam and received a scholarship from the Dutch Instruments Funds of the Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds in 2012.

As a native of Germany, Anna studied in Münster/Germany with Winfried Michel and in Amsterdam/ The Netherlands with Paul Leenhouts, where she obtained the Master degree in 2011 with distinction.
